Manifold GIS Reports

Announcements

Racing Victoria Ltd. begins Field Data Management Automation. October 26th 2006, Pleasanton, CA: ScanControl, Inc., a global field data management solution provider announced the commencement of a project to support improved track management practices for Racing Victoria, Ltd. The Australian racetrack operator will be able to gain a precise understanding of the variability of turf track conditions and make targeted adjustments to optimize the racing surface. The initial phase of the project will encompass five separate facitities. Issues such as turf health, penetramoter testing, soil moisture conditions and other variables can easily be measured and tracked by field personnel using PDA or smartphone devices out in the field. Data is transferred to a central database where secure Internet accessible maps of each track are used to show the spatial variation of each field data collection program completely automatically.

Creating Reports Using Manifold 7.x

Manifold Professional version 7.x must be installed to make use of the capabilities demonstrated here. This tutorial contains 3 sections that demonstrate how to create a project file, link external data into the project and create a thematically formatted map from the database content. Manifold allows objects in the project file to be shared in a database. Items can be "linked" into other project files once the source content has been shared.

The underlying geometry has been specifically formatted to ensure referential integrity with the linked data. This requires that certain attribute values are present in the imported shape file data but it is relatively straightforward to adjust the attribute content after it has been imported.

It should be noted that the examples given may not be the only valid method for linking geometry to additional data. These demonstrations also assume some existing familiarity with GIS.
